Three stick comb-back.

When designing a new chair I often look to the past for historical chairs that have been previously made for inspiration. This three stick comb-back design has come from a chair on display in the St.Fagans museum of history, Cardiff, and originally made with a curved branch for the arm rest. This gives the chair a more open and organic appearance, which is what I have tried to convey in this piece; along with a shallower seat that echo's the arm profile. Here is a chair that represents much of the aesthetics of early Welsh stick chairs, brought up to date with contemporary materials and finished in a Red Wagon milk paint and oil.
