A three stick chair in the Naturals range.
So I’m in between projects and before I start my next commissioned piece, I thought I’d go ahead and make my three stick comb-back chair in oak and finish it in my new Naturals range. I have timber on order for my commission and while I wait for the delivery to be made, I thought I’d create this chair design with some slight modifications. For a start, the arm bow is machined out of solid oak and finger jointed on the router table (image 1), before the ‘shoe’ is glued over the joint and hand carved (image 2). I have prepared the sticks in the usual way - octagons that will be tapered, along with the legs. The seat will also be carved with a shallow impression to add more comfort. I’m keen to see the outcome when a tinted oil finish is applied. It will be a great addition to the showroom and demonstrate what is possible to potential customers.
