Chairs assembled and ready to paint
A good end to the week - both chairs are now fully assembled and the first coat of milk paint is being applied. I like to leave the first coat fully cure for at least 24 hrs, as I use a added product called extra bond. This is like an emulsion that ensures a good adhesion to the bare wood surface and stops any flaking that may occur due to the resin in the seat. I can then usually get two further coats on the chair in a day, being a water based paint product and fast drying. It’s important not to mix the milk paint powder too thick, so the qualities of wood grain is still visible beneath the surface. See you for then next post on Monday!
