Welsh side chair creation
I am currently working on a new chair design, one that I have built before. I like repeating projects, it gives me the opportunity to refine details and learn from the previous piece. On this chair, I have approached to construction differently - I have assembled the top half of the chair first, something that I normally do after the legs are glued in place. The reason for this is the fact that the back spindles pass all the way through the seat and are wedged from underneath. If I were to glue the legs in first, then I would struggle to tap home the wedges near the leg mortices. I’m pleased with the progress I’ve made so far, next up is making the tapered octagonal legs and choosing the paint.
