New chair designs…

Over the past couple of months I have been delving into creating new chair prototype designs. I have looked at historical examples mostly from St. Fagans museum of Welsh life in Cardiff, U.K, to glean some information to create these new pieces. What I like about these designs is that although they were made over a centaury ago, they still look to this day modern and fresh. They were made as one off designs and out of solid wood and have a feeling of spontaneity about them. In these two new chairs that I am making, I hope to encapsulate these feelings in these pieces that represent ‘the spirit of Wales’.
